No offense, but you're only 13 years old. You get free room and board, free food, free clothing, free transportation, etc., from your parents/guardians. You probably didn't pay for that guitar either did you? Sell out?!?! Try paying for all that stuff mentioned above for a while as a musician, and then get back to me and tell me what you'd be willing to do to help your band make a living. Most musicians have regular jobs to "support their habit". Danny tends bar, for example. The members of Dot Dot Dot have real guts. They've made the decision to make a go of it full time as a band. The guys in Sixwire are all professional musicians, they tour as individual "hired hands" for international-level country music stars. 2/3 of The Clark brothers play for Carrie Underwood. The point here, Cameron, is that you do what you have to do to get your band noticed, even if it is on a totally contrived and fake "competition" like NGAB. Yes, it was totally fake, the winners were chosen from the start by the producers, the voting never was meant to actually count. But each and every one of those bands couldn't buy exposure like they got by being on that show any other way, short of selling their souls to the devil himself. So, if you want to snipe at someone about "selling out", claiming that you'll never stoop to that level, well, then, I hope you're happy wallowing in permanent obscurity, your music being relegated to the backburner while you struggle to pay your bills with your "regular job". They are probably awesome guys, I just think that the national TV reality show thing is kinda lame. I am a musician and I would NEVER do that to myself no matter how much money was involved. I just bought a couple of their songs on iTunes and I'm listening to them right now. I must admit that "Monster" and White Boy Blues are totally cool. They are good, I was just a little bit turned off by the whole TV thing. Sorry. By the way, this movie is gonna be awesome. When is it set to release? okay, sorry if i offended. As fake as reality shows may be, the Muggs are some of the most REAL people I know. It was great to see a hometown band compete on national TV. Did they ever really stand a chance? This band is on a freakin' reality show with an australian narrator. Can you say FAKE? The band is okay (not as good as the Dirtbombs, Blanche, The GO, or Tin Knocker, mind you) but they have totally sold out! I don't mind when someone becomes successful in an honest-to-goodness way but when someone whores themselves to the media by even thinking about entering a fake show that decides for america what the "Next Great American Band" is, i totally take offense. I love the Detroit scene, but as a 13-year old male, I think you should pay more attention to the REAL bands like The Muldoons (dude they are my age and they are making a name for themselves). Check Ben Blackwell's label (cassrecords.com) and listen to some REAL music made by REAL people!!!! Yo, the music is so-so but COME ON!
